FROM TRAIN TO HABITAT: WHY?
Never before in human history have we had so much access to information which teaches us what the world needs from our organisations – from the detail of our human interaction to the global issues our organisations impact on.
Looking at the online community’s overwhelmingly positive response to these ideas and teachings, it is clear that our expressed values have shifted – we want to be more inclusive, we want to be more impactful as leaders and we want to more carefully act on our economic, social and environmental responsibilities.
Why then, as a mean average, are our organisations changing so slowly? Why are so many small business still struggling to be the thriving, rewarding workplaces they always intended to be? Why do so many large businesses still exploit people and environment? Why are our not-for-profits still consistently strained? Why are our governments still frustrating and alienating us?
Should we simply accept that our human condition will inhibit our forward movement in this way, no matter how many extraordinary solutions we are presented with? Or could there possibly be something else still tying us to our past and therefore slowing our progress?
