This Strategic Context Review process template supports a top leadership analysis of current internal and external realities relevant to an organisation's strategic and operational planning. This process is used to not only articulate the specific risks/opportunities these realities represent to the organisation, but also to consider where evolution is most needed in the organisation.

As a component of the MIA Risk Management Bundle, the Strategic Context Review process plays a key role in meeting risk and opportunity management responsibilities as defined in the ISO 9001 quality standard (as well as the ISO 45001 safety standard and the ISO 14001 environmental standard, if relevant).

In summary, the MIA Strategic Context Review:

  • Is used to record an annual top management analysis of current internal and external issues, and the risks/opportunities these represent.
  • Supports leaders in articulating the most useful system developments for their people to focus on, to support the strategic direction of the practice.

BONUS inclusions in the MIA Strategic Context Review:

  • Identification of Interested Parties relevant to the practice’s Management System.
  • Prompts documented review of the QMS Scope and Policy, as it relates to the current company context.
