SAFETY IN DESIGN - ANALYSIS & TRAINING
Dear Cairns design community,
If my years as an architect and subsequently as a management consultant to various design practices have taught me anything, it is that we don't have time to waste. Obviously because we are busy, but also because when we use our time well in this industry, we have meaningful impact. So I want to assure you that I will not waste a minute of your time with what I am suggesting below.
We quite simply need a better approach to Safety in Design. I have studied this topic for years: I have had countless conversations with mostly architects, but also with engineers, landscape architects and project managers about real project scenarios and how to best manage Safety in Design on them. I have researched the legislation, the underlying causes for lack of compliant action/records and the impacts of this on our industry, our practices and our people. Armed with this knowledge and my experience in developing process solutions for business benefit and people engagement, I have developed a well-rounded process and training solution, already implemented in several practices.
This is about real culture change, real risk reduction in our design practices and real improvements in how we confidently manage the SHARED duty of safety outcomes on all of our projects.
So I come with good news and I would welcome the opportunity to share it with you.
Kind Regards
Jennekin

WORKSHOP 1 - PRACTICE RISK ANALYSIS GROUP
Purpose: A structured Group Workshop for senior management representatives to take stock of Safety in Design compliance for the project and client types in the practices represented. Number of practices represented will be limited to maximise the value for all participants in the workshop.
Workshop best suited to: Top management and senior designers.
Duration: 1-1.5 hrs (may extend with an additional complimentary 30 minutes, depending on group requirements).
Cost: $100 (+ GST) per person (reduces to $70 for each subsequent person from the same practice).
Formal CPD? Yes.
Date, Time & Venue in Cairns: T.B.C

WORKSHOP 2 - MINDSET TRAINING
Purpose: An impactful group training session to help develop the critical foundation thinking for a Safety in Design approach which is compliant with legislation, beneficial to the design industry and which gives designers the confidence to start managing Safety in Design as a shared responsibility on projects. (Group size need not be limited, although final venue choice may impose some restrictions.)
Workshop best suited to: Professional designers (Directors, team leaders and team members).
Duration: 1 hour (may extend with a complimentary 30 minute group Q&A session if requested by attendees on the day).
Likely cost: $40 (+ GST) per person
Formal CPD? Yes, upon completion of an Assessment sheet.
Date, Time & Venue in Cairns: T.B.C
Answer to a Frequently Asked Question: The MINDSET Training session can absolutely provide excellent insights and learning as a standalone event. It compliments, but is not dependent on use of the Safety in Design TOOL SET offered by Management in Action. Outcomes do however gain more traction if senior management had attended a Practice Risk Analysis workshop.
